What is THC? What is CBD?

Cannabis contains hundreds of chemical substances. Over 100 of these are known as cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are made and stored in the plant's trichomes. Trichomes are tiny, clear hairs that stick out from the flowers and leaves of the plant. Cannabinoids have effects on cell receptors in the brain and body. They can change how those cells behave and communicate with each other.

THC
The most researched cannabinoid is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is responsible for the way your brain and body respond to cannabis, including the high and intoxication. THC has some therapeutic effects but it also has harmful effects. Harmful effects may be greater when the strength of THC is higher.

The concentration or strength of cannabis is usually shown as a percentage of THC by weight (or volume in oil).

CBD
Cannabidiol (CBD) is another cannabinoid. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a high or intoxication. There is some evidence that CBD may block or lower some of the effects of THC on the mind. This may occur when the amount of CBD in the cannabis is the same or higher than the amount of THC. CBD is also being studied for its possible therapeutic uses.

Who can order cannabis?

The minimum age to purchase, possess, and consume cannabis in the Northwest Territories is 19.

Anyone 19 years or older can purchase cannabis online through this site and have it shipped to an address in the Northwest Territories.

How does age verification work?

Before placing an order, clients will be asked to confirm that they are 19 years of age or older.  When the order is delivered, or when you pick it up, you will be required to show a valid, government-issued ID (Passport, Driver’s License or General ID Card) to the Canada Post worker proving you live at the same address as the orderer and that you are 19 years of age or older. 

Can I have my order shipped somewhere outside of the Northwest Territories?

Orders made through this website can only be shipped to addresses in the Northwest Territories.

Will my order be delivered to my mailbox?

No.

Canada Post will make an attempt to deliver to the shipping address.  If you are home to receive the package, Canada Post will ask for proof of age and identity as well as a signature in order to release the package to you. 

If you are not home to receive the package, another adult (19 years of age or older) who has the same home address as you can accept the package by proving their age and address. 

If no one is home to accept the package, a delivery notice card will be left and you will have to pick up your order from the Canada Post location in your community.  When you pick up your package you will have to provide proof of age and identity as well as sign for receipt.

If you have a P.O. Box, you will receive a delivery notice card in your box and you will have to bring it to Canada Post to pick up your package.

Can someone else pick up my order?

Yes, in some cases.  The person receiving or picking up your order must be able to show a valid, government-issued ID (Passport, Driver’s License or General ID Card) that shows the same address as the waybill on your package and proves they are 19 years of age or older.

How much cannabis can I order at one time?

Each order will be limited to 30 grams of dried cannabis (or its equivalent in another form).

Can I make multiple orders of 30g each?

Yes, but under the law, you can only legally carry 30 grams (or the equivalent) of cannabis at a time.

What forms of payment can I use?

The following forms of payment are accepted:

  •          Major credit cards* (American Express will be available in a few weeks)
  •          Debit Visa, Debit Mastercard
  •          Pre-paid credit cards, available at Canada Post or local convenience stores.

Who will have access to my information once I make an order?

The shipping department has your information in order to package your shipment and send it to your address. The information is in a secure SSL application accessed by the manufacturer shipping department. No information is used for any other purposes. Please see Privacy Policy in the footer of the NTLCC ecommerce website.

How will the purchase show up on my credit card statement?

The purchase will show up on your credit card statement as NTLCC.

How do you ship my order?

Orders will be shipped using Canada Post. You will be required to show a valid, government-issued ID (Passport, Driver’s License or General ID Card) showing the same address as the waybill in order to receive or pick up your package.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Orders placed Monday to Friday (except holidays) will normally be processed for shipment 2 business days later. 

Expedited Parcel: Customers in Yellowknife (X1A) can expect their order within 7 days of shipment. Customers within all other areas of the NWT can expect their order within 13 days of shipment.

Xpresspost: Customers in Yellowknife (X1A) can expect their order within 4 days of shipment. Customers within all other areas of the NWT can expect their order within 7 days of shipment.

Where is my order coming from?

All orders are fulfilled and shipped from a distribution center in Ontario, Canada.

What if there is a problem with my order?

All sales are final. No return of any products will be accepted and no exchanges will be available.

Products that are unclaimed and returned to sender cannot be re-shipped. Unclaimed Products will be destroyed, and no refunds or credits will be issued.

Why is the cannabis selection different online than in my local cannabis store?

The NTLCC’s online site is limited to High Park Farms cannabis products.  Local cannabis stores have product lines from additional suppliers available for purchase.

How will my cannabis order be packaged?

The federal government has established standards for the packaging, labelling and shipping of cannabis products in Canada.  All shipments will be sent using Canada Post and will be assigned a tracking number.  Your order will be shipped in sealed packaging that prevents the odour of cannabis from being detected, and the contents from being identified without it being opened.
